Colombia is a colorful and exciting country to visit. Here are a few books that will teach kids about Colombia or get them excited to travel there.
Famous Colombians. My Name is Gabito is a non-fiction picture book that tells the story of famed author Gabriel Garcia Marquez by using imagery from his novels.
Colombian Libraries. It’s amazing that there is such an incredible selection of children’s books that focus on the role of libraries in Colombia. Two books focus on the real-life librarian Luis Soriano who loaded books on burros to create a mobile library: Waiting for the Biblioburro and Biblioburro: A True Story from Colombia. A third, Digging for Words, is the story of a garbage collector who starts a library from a single book.
All About Colombia: Tiny Travelers Colombia Treasure Quest is a fun search-and-find way to introduce kids to the different regions of Colombia. This is a board book, so it’s perfect for younger readers, and features foods, instruments and more.
