If you’re traveling to Turkey with kids, here are Storybook List’s suggested children’s books. These will get kids excited about traveling to Turkey or even just to learn more about the country.
All About Turkey. All Around the World: Turkiye is aimed at elementary-aged readers and includes photographs and facts about Turkey’s geography, culture, and more.
Stories Set in Turkey. The Hungry Coat is a folktale featuring traditionally-inspired illustrations and a moral and lesson about appearances. Drummer Girl is set in a small Turkish village and tells the tale of a girl who dreams to be the drummer (musaharati).
Istanbul. Lucky, the One-Eyed Cat is an elementary-aged picture book that follows an unwanted cat through Istanbul’s landmarks. For older elementary readers, The Adventures of Asva In Istanbul follow Asva and his family as they solve puzzles and secrets of the Bosphorus waterway.
Cappadocia. The Seven Fairy Mountains of Cappadocia is the story of a small fairy mountain and features illustrations of Cappadocia.
